How I make my home feel cozy during rainy autumn days

Its rained all day here. On top of that my whole family is sick, so its been a lot of couch time and teas for us today. We're all wearing knitted socks and cuddling under blankets, its not that its that cold in here, but feeling sick and hearing the rain make us want feel just that much warmer and cozier..

Another thing we've been doing today, and almost every morning or evening actually is having candles lit. With a preschooler and a dog with a long tail we tend to lean towards tealigths. I have them set up in every room we have except my daughter's. We only light them in the room were in or if we can see them from where we are.

We have two windows on two different walls in the living room, and the couch in the corner between them. So that when I light candles in the living room I feel surrounded by them, it feels so cozy. I get the same effect in the kitchen where the windows are placed similarly.

Since our apartment is L shaped around our balcony, there are windows facing it from both the kitchen and living room. Which is why I put matching lampshades on our lamps in the windows in both rooms. It's really great to sit out there and listen to the rain with a blanket, a cup of tea and the soft lights from the candles.

Blankets is another thing that we are big on on days like these, I make sure to have them on all our beds, we have three in the living room and two on the balcony. During summer their mostly decorative. But now we use them a lot. Especially on rainy days like today.

Me and my husband like to get up early in the morning and sit in the living room with candles and coffee before our daughter wakes up. We really value those slow moments where we can just focus on us. We do the same after our daughter has go to bed. Tonight i made us hot chocolates and quick chocolate cakes, after a long rainy day this seemed like the perfect ending.

This is how I make our home feel warm and inviting regardless of how cold and rainy this season gets..
